Markley (2009) said that “the invention of mobile phone is one of the important inventions of the modern society and is designed to carry out a lot of functions”. Also, he added that “mobile phones are not made only for calling or receiving calls but with other applications like gamming, accessing the internet and lots more”. Ling and Donner (2005) summarize that “with the presence of mobile phone most of the people in the society are free and much secured, more productive, more connected to friends and families”. Hoflich (2006) added that “mobile phones bring people closer not considering the distance”.
However, Agarwal (2000) argues that “electromagnetic radiation from phone alters and causes disturbance in sleep, difficulty in concentration, fatigue, headache and high blood pressure”. Stewart (2005) state that “heavy mobile phone users are more vulnerable to malignant tumours in the ear and the brain”. More so, Hyland (2005) in his research explains that” immature children are more exposed to radiations because of their thinner skull; they are developing nervous systems”. Making calls while driving tends to cause distraction. Anderson et al (2002) comment that“the principal hazard of phone use while driving is that it distracts the driver, taking their attention away from the task of driving".Meanwhile, Marinelli (2002) reported "that radio waves from mobile phones could promote the growth of cancer cells".
